Digital marketing basically refers to any internet marketing effort or asset. Email marketing, pay-per-click ads, social media marketing, and even blogging are great examples of digital marketing – they help familiarize people with your business and convince them to buy.

Almost anything can be a digital marketing asset. It just needs to be a marketing tool that you use online. However, not many people know how many digital marketing assets are available to them. These are just some examples:

Pay-per-click advertising (PPC) is actually a broad term that covers any type of digital marketing where you pay for every user who clicks an ad. For example, Google AdWords is a form of pay-per-click advertising called a “paid search ad” (which we’ll get to in a second). Facebook ads are another form of pay-per-click advertising called “paid social media ads” (again, we’ll get to that soon).
Advertise in paid search results
Google, Bing, and Yahoo allow you to run text ads on search engine result pages (SERPs). Paid Search Advertising is one of the best ways to target potential customers who are actively searching for a product or service like yours.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
If you don’t want to pay to appear in the SERPs, you can also use search engine optimization (SEO) to try to rank the pages or blog posts on your site organically. You don’t have to pay directly for every click, but getting the page ranked usually takes a lot of time and effort (for a more detailed comparison between paid search and SEO, see this article).
Paid ads on social media
Most of the social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Snapchat allow you to post ads on their sites.
